In 2013, after working ten years in the public sector in Sweden and at the European Commission in Brussels I decided to start working as an independent consultant and founded Jonathan Olsson Consulting.

I have a Master of Science in Engineering and a University Diploma in Journalism. A combination that has provided me with deep analytical skills and an ability to explain complex matters clear and comprehensible to a broader public.

Over the years I have gained knowledge through a variety of different positions and areas of responsibility, spreading from analytical reports and public inquiries to lecturing, media contacts and participation in international working groups and negotiations.

As a consultant I am specialised in providing advice, expert knowledge and analysis relating to EU law, focusing on various aspects of coordination of social security and cross-border healthcare, i.e. necessary or planned healthcare received during a temporary stay abroad.

Report on cross-border healthcare

Published Tuesday, 6 June 2023

The report on cross-border healthcare following Directive 2011/24/24, reference year 2021, prepared by Jonathan Olsson Consulting and KU Leuven (HIVA) has been published on the website of the European Commission.

In order to follow-up on the functioning of the operation of Directive 2011/24/EU on the application of patients’ rights in cross-border healthcare the European Commission collects data through an annual questionnaire. This year’s report covers year 2021 and is the seventh report to be published.
